Trucks and learning to go with the flow

Driving the big tractor!

John Driving the big tractor!

Every feel like your world gets turned upside down and you don’t know what to do?

All I have heard for the last few weeks every time we drive by a construction vehicle or a truck is my son yelling TRACTORS!!! We or I had been looking forward to the Touch A Truck and Meet A Machine hosted by the Ontario Early Years-AFPRC event for months.

John was so excited when he saw all of the tractors and couldn’t wait to get into explore. Being the overprotective mother I am I applied sunscreen and made sure we were ready to go.

The event was a well oiled machine: quick admission/tickets, fun games, delicious food, friendly drivers and lots of things for kids of all ages to do.

Lucy also took in the truck fun!

John was overwhelmed with everything and was so happy to do it all! But then the worst thing happened; he started to have an allergic reaction to the sunscreen. The only thing we could do was pack up and leave. To say I was disappointed was an understatement but what was best for John was to get out of there.

I think that is one of the greatest lessons I am learning as a parent, sometimes plans change and you just have to take a deep breath and roll with it. As long as everyone is safe and healthy that is what is most important.

Later that day when John was feeling better we looked at the pictures we were able to take before he was sick and finally I heard it again in his sweet little voice TRACTORS!!

In the end you just need to smile and enjoy the tractors in life where ever they may lead.
