Vacation Part 3

Family photo at the Big Apple

One of my best friends lives a few minutes from the Big Apple (near Brighton, ON)  so it was a must this year on our summer vacation tour. A must from two reasons: we got to hang out with some great friends and one of John’s favourite things is apples.

As soon as we got out of the car at the Big Apple it started, in his cute little two year old voice “APPLE.” He was so excited to see so many apples everywhere you looked.

We really wanted to keep this trip cost effective so we only did the outside attractions, which equal free. First up was the Big Apple! There was lots of space for the kids to run and play and of course get some pictures with the apple too, we asked John to give the apple a hug and a kiss, pretty cute!

Inside and up we went, I thought there would be a lot more stairs but it was very manageable even holding Lucy. There are some interactive displays and historic murals but I didn’t have a chance to look with John and Lucy to control, maybe next time.

All of the outside attractions: table tennis, shuffle board, bocce ball. 18-hole mini putt and a train ride (weekends and holidays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) are all FREE.

After we saw the apple and ran around the wishing well a few times it was time to go see the animals!

John has just picked up how to say duck and it was super cute to hear him say ‘DUCK!’ as he actually saw one and not just one in a book. There were a number of different animals to look at and he was thrilled with each one. Especially the sheep that would ‘baaa’ back at him.

The Big Apple is a great little spot if you need somewhere to stop on a long trip to get the kids out of the car for an hour or so or if you want to make a day out of it. Next time I might even try a pie!
